[External SSD/ SSD Enclosure] Why can’t I reach the maximum speed of my external SSD/SSD enclosure?
The actual read and write speed depends on the device you are using.
In order to reach best efficiency, please ensure that you have connected cable, which is attached with SSD enclosure/ external SSD, and check your computer’s USB port.
For instance, if your computer only provides USB 3.2 Gen1 port, then the maximum read and write speed can only achieve 5Gb/s theoretically.
The following is an additional note to help you distinguish between different types of USB Type-C:
(1)Type C port with mark below or no marks, which is USB3.2 Gen1 Type-C, it can reach maximum 5 Gb/s bandwidth theoretically.
(2)USB3.2 Gen2 Type-C can reach maximum 10 Gb/s bandwidth theoretically.
(3)USB3.2 Gen2x2 Type-C can reach maximum 20 Gb/s bandwidth theoretically.
For m.2 SATA SSDs, the maximum speed you can reach is up to 6 Gbps.
