ASUS to Ramp Up Gaming Monitor Shipments in 2021

2021/06/11

Fremont, California (June 11, 2021) - ASUS is likely to ramp up the shipments of its gaming monitors to three million units in 2021, compared to two million shipped a year earlier.

Bolstered by the growth of stay-at-home activities, ASUS's total monitor shipments are expected to reach seven million units in 2021, up from 6.2 million seen a year ago, according to ASUS vice president Chiu Yao-hui.

The company also expects global monitor shipments to rise to 150 million units in 2021 from 2020's 139 million units, with shipments of gaming monitors to grow to 20 million units from 15 million.

However, due to shortages of some key materials, ASUS's shipments of traditional and gaming monitors will stay flat in the second quarter of 2021, after rising 50% and 200%, respectively, in the first quarter, Chiu noted.

ASUS has continued to enrich its gaming portfolios to maintain its momentum, including the release of more models supporting HDR and HDMI 2.1, Chiu added.

The company has also recently launched models featuring OLED and mini LED-backlit displays targeting professional and niche market segments.
