[NUC] Cables and Video Adapters for NUC Display Connections

The information below describes different cables and adapters that you can use to connect an I NUC to a display. For information on which cables your NUC supports, see the Technical Product Specifications for your NUC model.

Full-size HDMI Cables

There are multiple types of HDMI cables. Please, refer to www.hdmi.org for HDMI cable overview
Example: cable with standard HDMI connectors on both ends. 
High Speed Category 2 HDMI cables

Mini-HDMI Cables

NUCs that have mini-HDMI connectors can use either of these cable types, depending on the type of port on the TV or monitor. 
Example: mini-HDMI at one end and standard HDMI at the other:

Mini-DisplayPort Cables

Type C (Thunderbolt) Cables

Example: Standard Type C to Type C cable (connects to a Type C port on the display):

VGA Cables

NUCs with a VGA port use a standard 15-pin VGA cable.

Video Adapters or Converters

Adapters that convert one type of graphics interface to another can allow you to connect a NUC to a monitor that doesn't have the same type of video interface. Examples:

While these types of adapters usually work, they can cause graphics issues, such as:

  • No display
  • Flickering display

The best solution is a direct connection with a single cable with the appropriate connection type at each end.
