[Motherboard] ASMedia ASM4242 USB4® Driver Update FAQ

In order to get the best user experience, stability and WHQL status of USB4 functionality on ASUS motherboards, please follow the instructions below to install the necessary updates, drivers and firmware according to your operating system.

1.Update motherboard BIOS to latest version
Support à Driver Utility àBIOS & FIRMWARE
WRX90 series with USB4 onboard：BIOS later than BIOS 0404
For MB model‘s BIOS version, please check the USB4 PCIE GEN4 CARD compatibility list .

2.Update Driver and firmware

2.1 For Windows 11

Please open Windows auto update, update to Windows 11 Version 23H2 for x64-based System (KB5032288) and later version.

2.1.1 Update asmedia ASM4242 Firmware
SupportàDriver UtilityàBios and Firmwareà ASMx4242_FWUpdateV4006_u424231219200011.zip, and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

2.1.2 Update PD FW

SupportàDriver UtilityàBios and Firmwareà ASUS_USB4_Module_PD_FW_Update tool_V005, and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

2.2 For Windows 10

Please go to the support site of /USB4 PCIE GEN4 CARD and do as follows.

2.2.1 Update asmedia ASM4242 Firmware
SupportàDriver UtilityàDriver & Toolsà ASMx4242_FWUpdateV400%, and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

2.2.2 Install asmedia ASM4242 Driver
SupportàDriver UtilityàBios and Firmware. Download Asmedia USB4 Host Router Driver, and follow the instructions to complete the installation.

2.2.3PD FW update

SupportàDriver UtilityàBios and Firmwareà ASUS_USB4_Module_PD_FW_Update tool_V005, and follow the instructions to complete the installation.
