[NUC] How to Use System Tools to Determine What Is Causing the NUC System to Wake
Find the most recent wake event and any scheduled wake events
- Click the Start button and type Command Prompt. Right-click the Command Prompt listing and select Run as administrator.
- Type powercfg -lastwake and press enter.
- Type powercfg -waketimers and press enter.
Look for keywords in the results from those two commands and try searching the internet for assistance.
- Check the Windows event log for wake events. Do this right before letting the system sleep (see screenshot below for location of the options mentioned in the instructions)
- Click Start
- Type Event Viewer
- When it loads, click Clear Log in the right pane.
- Select Clear Log again when prompted.
- After the system has woken from sleep unexpectedly, go back to the Event Viewer
- Click Windows Logs on the left-most folder structure.
- Select System.
- Look through the events for Power – Troubleshooter items and look at the details. This should tell you what woke the system up.
