Microsoft Edge - Add or remove browser add-ons, extensions, and toolbars

 

Microsoft Edge
Below we explain how to find, add, and remove extensions from the new Microsoft Edge .


To find an extension and add it to Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and select Settings and more  > Extensions and select Get extensions from Microsoft Store .
  2. Select the extension you'd like to add, and click the Get button.
  3. At the prompt showing permissions required by the extension, carefully review the permissions, and then click the Add extension button.
  4. The next prompt will confirm the extension has been added.

To add an extension to Microsoft Edge from the Chrome Web Store:

  1. Go to the Chrome Web Store.
  2. Select Allow extensions from other stores in the banner at the top of the page.
  3. Select the extension you'd like to add, and select Add to Chrome.
  4. At the prompt showing permissions required by the extension, carefully review the permissions, and click the Add extension button. You'll see a final prompt confirming the extension has been added.

To remove an extension from Microsoft Edge:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and right-click on the extension icon next to the address bar.
  2. Then select Remove from Microsoft Edge. You can also remove extensions via Settings and more  > Extensions, then select Remove under the extension you want to remove.
  3. You'll see a prompt asking you to confirm that you'd like to remove the extension, click the Remove button to confirm.

Google Chrome

To add an extension and use it on Google Chrome

  1. Open the Chrome Web Store and click Apps or Extensions from the menu.
  2. Browse or search for what you'd like to add.
  3. When you find an app or extension you'd like to add, click Add to Chrome.
  4. If you're adding an extension, review the types of data that the extension will be able to access, then click Add extension.
  5. You'll see your apps in your launcher, and your extensions in Chrome show as buttons on the toolbar.

To remove an extension from Google Chrome

  1. Open Chrome, then select the three, vertical dots next to the profile icon.
  2. Select More Tools > Extensions.
  3. Next to the extension you want to remove, click Remove.
  4. To confirm, click Remove.
  5. To remove an extension (as a button) on the browser toolbar, right-click the button and click Remove from Chrome.

 

Firefox

To add an add-on and use it on Firefox

  1. Open Firefox, then select the three, horizontal lines next to the profile icon.
  2. Select Add-ons, then select Get Add-ons.
  3. To install a featured add-on, click the blue +Install Theme or +Add to Firefox button, depending on the type of add-on.
  4. Find other add-ons by selecting the Find more add-ons button.

To remove an add-on from Firefox

  1. Open Firefox, then select the three, horizontal lines next to the profile icon.
  2. Select Add-ons, then choose Extensions, Themes, or Plugins.
  3. Find the one you want to remove, then select the three, horizontal dots and choose Remove.

 

Safari

To find and install extensions in Safari

  1. Open Safari, then choose Safari > Safari Extensions.
  2. If you're using Safari 12, the App Store opens to the Safari Extensions page.
  3. If you're using an earlier version of Safari, Safari opens the Safari Extensions Gallery webpage.

To turn off or uninstall extensions in Safari

  1. Open Safari, then choose Safari > Preferences > Extensions.
  2. For each extension, you can use the checkbox to enable or disable the extension.
  3. If you can't determine what an extension does, or you don't expect to use it again, select the Uninstall button for that extension.
