[Wireless Router] WAN - NAT Passthrough Introduction

Enable NAT Passthrough to allow a Virtual Private Network (VPN) connection to pass through the router to the network clients.

1. Connect your computer to the router via wired or WiFi connection and enter your router LAN IP or router URL http://www.asusrouter.com to the WEB GUI.

Note: Please refer to How to enter the router setting page(Web GUI) to learn more.

2. Key in your router's username and password to log in.

Note: If you forget the user name and/or password, please restore the router to the factory default status and setup.
Please refer to How to reset the router to factory default setting for how to restore the router to default status.

3. Click [ WAN ] > [ NAT Passthrough ], the option settings shown in the figure below are all default items. After modifying the settings, click [Apply ] to save the settings.

PPTP Passthrough : The Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) is a method for implementing virtual private networks.

L2TP Passthrough : In computer networking, Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) is a tunneling protocol used to support virtual private networks (VPNs) or as part of the delivery of services by ISPs. It does not provide any encryption or confidentiality by itself.

IPSec Passthrough : Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) is a protocol suite for securing Internet Protocol (IP) communications by authenticating and encrypting each IP packet of a communication session.

RTSP Passthrough : The Real Time Streaming Protocol (RTSP) is a network control protocol designed for use in entertainment and communications systems to control streaming media servers.

H.323 Passthrough : H.323 is a recommendation from the ITU Telecommunication Standardization Sector (ITU-T) that defines the protocols to provide audio-visual communication sessions on any packet network.

SIP Passthrough : The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is a communications protocol for signaling and controlling multimedia communication sessions. The most common applications of SIP are in Internet telephony for voice and video calls, as well as instant messaging all over Internet Protocol (IP) networks.

PPPoE Relay: Enable PPPoE relay allows devices in LAN to establish a individual PPPoE connections that passes through NAT.

Please refer to [Wireless Router] How to set up PPPoE Relay in ASUS router to learn more.

FTP ALG port: This system supports dual FTP server services. You can use "FTP" and "FTP_ALG", when setting up your port forwarding rules.  to learn more.

Please refer to [Wireless Router] How to set up Virtual Server/Port Forwarding Rules on ASUS Router  to learn more.
