After the pandemic, it became apparent that health institutions around the country needed to find new and better ways to accommodate their patients. Carewell embraced this opportunity by purchasing ASUS ExpertBook business laptops from ASUS to upgrade the systems their employees and volunteers use to connect to Carewell members.

It was important for Carewell to improve its technological capacities since people are opting to stay at home, use teleconsultation, or prefer to be updated and informed through online means. Carewell focuses on cancer patients, and knowing about the latest treatment or signs is one of their priorities.

Rosanna Javier manages the organization’s website and Facebook page. She knows firsthand what technology means to the public. “Technology solutions help me get faster access to information on the different types of cancer as well as the latest update on cancer treatment that we upload on our website and post on Carewell’s Facebook page.”

“This is also most evident during the past 2 and a half years of the pandemic when we had to hold forums virtually using Facebook Live to help our members and followers stay updated on the latest cancer news,” she adds

Meanwhile, Gina Evangelista is a member and volunteer for Carewell. She assists in handling various support groups and developing the organization’s merchandise products. Online sessions have become more apparent and convenient for individuals going through the same situation. Evangelista saw the power in others connecting, sharing, and supporting one another through difficult periods.

Evangelista narrates, “Having a platform and a place to share stories about each person’s cancer journey has enabled both current patients and long-time survivors to connect. Having that connection somehow provides comfort because their fears and apprehensions are assuaged. Even if the types of cancers are different, there are some similarities that create a bond, a family.”

Before the acquisition of ASUS equipment, Evangelista and Javier were using laptops that they found too slow to keep up with their day-to-day activities. The loading time and lags as they switched from tabs, software, and applications were in addition to the lack of enough disk space.

“Our computers were getting old; they got slower and would occasionally hang at the worst moments. We needed to upgrade the equipment to run the various software and programs efficiently,” Evangelista said.

Now that Carewell has a new batch of laptops in their possession and given to the members, they have been able to hold meetings and deliver tasks with ease. Especially since Carewell’s members span across the country, they need a fast and reliable hardware that can keep up with the demand.

“Since my work is not limited to just posting text, it also includes creating digital artworks using applications that need the speed, sufficient ram and hard drive space in order for it to work efficiently and ASUS gave me the solution to the problem,” said Javier
