Who Is EMCOR

Established in 1958, Engineering and Machinery Corporation (EMCOR) Incorporation today is one of the strongest players in the retail industry of motorcycles, home appliances, furniture, computers, and IT products spread across many areas of Mindanao, Visayas, and Palawan.

Currently, it has 154 stores and 2,000 employees in Mindanao. With its vision to become a world-class, community-based organization providing quality products and services, EMCOR is currently recognized and included in the Business World listing of the top 500 corporations in the Philippines and is among the largest taxpayers in Davao City.

“The foundation of our company is not the building, it’s not the assets, but it’s the people. We really value everyone. And in return, I can see that my employees are doing the same to our customers,” says President Aparejo in an exclusive interview with the ASUS team.


Business Challenges

EMCOR is relatively new when it comes to technology. The pandemic highlighted the need to adopt digital transformation. As shared by President Aparejo, when the hard lockdown was first imposed nationwide, they had to close their stores for almost two months. Starting March 2022 to May 2022, they had no operations. Even though there was a surge in customer demands, they weren’t able to accommodate and deliver due to the restrictions in all cities.

The decision-makers of EMCOR realized the urgency to innovate the way they operate – from operating with traditional business models to unifying their back-office operations through one digital platform.

“I remembered, almost every week, we had constant meetings with our suppliers to coordinate with them and to our employees also,” says President Aparejo as he emphasized that coordinating from top to bottom employees was a challenge as well.


Why EmCor Chose ASUS

As a company that has been in the IT retail industry for 64 years, it’s been an expert judge of quality and practicality. And Indeed, purchasing ASUS products is a wise move for EMCOR.

“Definitely, upgrading your software will also entail upgrading your hardware,” claimed President Aparejo.

“Since we operate in different regions, and in Zamboanga for example, they have these needs to upgrade their units. Their laptops and computers were upgraded to become more efficient — efficient when it comes to the data processing, speed in doing reports, the use of powerpoints and other visuals in reporting, also they have a requirement for internal or in house system,” he added.

According to President Aparejo, they had a requirement for procurement: first, the specification and the second is the pricing. And ASUS offerings fulfilled their requirements. Thus, based on ASUS Philippines’ recommendation, EMCOR acquired 30 units of ASUS ExpertCenter D500TC with ASUS C1241Q monitors to be utilized both by their frontliners and their back office.. EMCOR personnel can now get things done with fewer clicks and swipes using the refreshed Start, Taskbar, and Navigation Center. From the centered Start and clean layout to fresh icons, wallpaper, and sounds, the new Windows will make their tasks easier. Windows 11 Pro is also the most secure Windows yet, delivering powerful built-in security including hardware isolation, encryption, and malware protection.

“We saw many positive effects down the line since we started using ASUS units. With the new hardware that we have, it’s easier to achieve our goal to deliver a seamless customer experience to our valuable customers,” President Aparejo said.
