[Wireless Router] What is Parental Control?

ASUS Parental Control is a feature built into ASUS routers that helps parents manage their children's internet use. It allows you to block certain online content and set specific times when your children can access the internet. You can easily set it up using either the Web GUI or the ASUS Router app.

 

ASUS Parental Control is more than just a technical tool. It is designed to help modern families create healthy internet habits and keep children safe online. Whether your child is attending online classes, exploring educational resources, playing games, or just browsing the web, this feature gives you easy and effective tools to guide their internet use with care and clarity.

ASUS Parental Control is easy to set up and has flexible settings that can be adjusted for different ages and daily routines. It helps you create a safe and supportive home network, giving you peace of mind and allowing your children to learn and connect safely.

 

 

1. How to set up Parental Control Via the Web GUI?

a. Set the devices and content category you want to filter:

   a-1 Connect your device to the router via wired or WiFi connection.

   a-2 • Open a browser and enter your router LAN IP or router URL http://www.asusrouter.com to the WEB GUI.

   a-3 Key in your router's username and password to log in.

   a-4 Go to [ Parental Controls] > [Web & Apps Filters] > Enable [Web & Apps Filters].

   a-5 • Select the device and choose categories to filter (e.g., Streaming, Games, etc.).

   a-6 Click Add button, then [Apply] to save the settings.

 

b. Set Time Scheduling:

   b-1 Go to [ Parental Controls] > [Time Scheduling].

   b-2 Choose a device and configure allowed or blocked time.

   b-3 click [Apply] to save the settings.

2. How to set up Family(Parental Controls) via ASUS Router App?

a. Set the devices / content category / Time Scheduling:

   a-1 Make sure your router firmware and ASUS Router app are up-to-date.

   a-2 Open the app and tap Settings > Family.

   a-3 Select a profile (e.g. Child), name the user, and tap Next.

   a-4 Choose the devices to manage.

   a-5 Set up Offline Schedule or Online Schedule.

   a-6 Tap Finish to save.

 

  b. Reward Time: You can also reward extra internet time with the Family Rewards feature.

3. How to block unsafe content with Safe Browsing?

You can set up your ASUS router via ASUS Router app:

   1. Open the ASUS Router app and tap Settings > Family.

   2. Tap the target group or profile.

   3. Find Safe Browsing, tap to enter.

   4. Choose a filter mode:(e.g. Ads Blocking + Family)

   5. Tap [Apply] to save the settings.

FAQ

1. I don’t see features like [Reward Time] or [Online Schedule] in my app. Why?

    These are only available on firmware version 3.0.0.4.388.xxxxx and above. Please update your router firmware and app.

 

2. My child’s device can still access the internet after setting a schedule.

    Check if:

    a. Router system time is correct.

    b. The correct device/MAC address is selected.

    c. Firmware is the latest version.

 

3. Can I block specific websites for individual devices?

    Currently, ASUS routers don’t support per-device website blocking.
