New AI Module Makes the ROG Virtual Assistant More Intelligent Than Ever

2024/08/29

TAIPEI, Taiwan, August 29, 2024 —ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today released a significant update to its bundled Virtual Assistant software (originally known as Virtual Pet). This new software package comes preinstalled on the ROG Zephyrus G16 and leverages the incredible power of AI to significantly level up the capabilities of the Virtual Assistant, including an intelligent chat and Q&A interface, written document summarization, and voice transcription tools. The beta version of Virtual Assistant will be showcased during IFA 2024 at ASUS’s demo suite. This update will be available on laptop models with AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series processors as a free download via ASUS Live Update on September 30th.

Intelligent chat support

The Virtual Assistant gives users a leg up when they’re using an unfamiliar program or system tool. With a local chat and Q&A feature, even when disconnected from the internet, the Virtual Assistant can help users navigate complicated menus and activate the features and settings they need. For example, if a new user is looking to adjust fan settings, they can request that from the Virtual Assistant, and it will direct them to the appropriate settings menu within the Armoury Crate app. Applications like MyASUS, GlideX, and ProArt Creator Hub are supported, and the chat functionality adds a new layer of support for end users.

Your own personal librarian

Utilizing the revolutionary Llama 3 language model, the Virtual Assistant also offers an incredibly accurate text document summarization feature. Known as the “Librarian,” this feature can take large, complex documents and efficiently summarize their contents and context. This not only allows users to easily search for specific documents, but also to search and cross-reference within a document using the Virtual Assistant chat bot. This approach drastically enhances the accessibility of complex documents, and like all the new Virtual Assistant features, operates locally on the machine to guarantee a user’s data privacy.

Voice transcription

The third keystone feature of the Virtual Assistant is its brand-new transcription and summarization functionality. Based on the Whisper model, a pre-trained automatic speech recognition (ASR) model developed by OpenAI, the tool can accurately transcribe and summarize voice recordings. This allows for the quick creation of high value meeting minutes that offer the key insights from a conversation with minimal effort.
