ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces Updated Strix SCAR Edition
Esports gaming laptop designed for FPS games is now powered by an 8th Generation Intel Core CPU, and features a host of upgrades
TAIPEI, Taiwan, April 3, 2018 — ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced that the Strix SCAR Edition gaming laptop is now available with the latest 8th Generation Intel® Core™ processors and NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 10-Series graphics.
The newly updated model also has an IPS-level display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 3ms gray-to-gray (GTG) response time, and NVIDIA G-SYNC™ technology. Strix SCAR Edition is specially designed to give gamers a competitive edge in first-person shooter (FPS) esports titles like Counter-Strike®, Overwatch®, and Team Fortress® 2.
Exceptional gaming performance
Strix SCAR Edition is powered by the latest 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor with up to 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz dual-channel memory. The new processor can reach speeds of up to 4GHz with four cores and 3.9GHz with six cores, and execute up to 12 threads using Intel Hyper-Threading Technology. In addition, Intel Speed Shift and Turbo Boost technologies enable SCAR Edition to handle every task quickly and efficiently, including simultaneous gaming, recording and live-streaming.
Strix SCAR Edition can be specified with up to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 graphics. The GTX 10-Series graphics architecture offers the highest possible gaming performance, new gaming technologies, and unmatched VR experiences. It's packed with as many as 2048 CUDA® cores and can reach a maximum boost-clock speed of 1645MHz — twice that of the previous generation. GeForce GTX 10-Series also supports Microsoft® DirectX® 12, enabling the newest visual effects and rendering techniques for realistic gaming visuals.
Supersmooth gaming visuals
For supersmooth and responsive gameplay, Strix SCAR Edition features an IPS-level display with a 144Hz refresh rate and 3ms GTG response time. There’s also NVIDIA G-SYNC technology to reduce input lag, minimize perceived stutter, and eliminate visual tearing to further improve visuals without affecting system performance.
Desktop-style gaming keyboard
In keeping with its designed-for-esports philosophy, Strix SCAR Edition has a desktop-style keyboard that’s optimized for gaming: it features four gaming hotkeys, ergonomically designed keys with 0.25mm-curvature caps, and customizable RGB-backlighting across four zones. The keyboard also features a highlighted WASD key group and N-key rollover technology. ROG-exclusive Overstroke technology provides a longer over-stroke distance and earlier key actuation for fast, effortless keystrokes.
Advanced cooling features
Strix SCAR Edition has a patented trapezoid-cut lid design that doesn’t interfere with its rear exhaust vents, and features high-performance 12-volt fans that boost airflow and increase air pressure to improve cooling efficiency. The patented Anti-Dust Cooling (ADC) system enables Strix SCAR Edition to expel harmful dust particles and dirt to improve system stability and durability. This prevents buildup on the heatsink fins — dust accumulation on the heatsink often result in compromised cooling performance.
Light it up with Aura Sync
Aura Sync technology lets gamers customize and sync light effects with Aura Sync-supported gaming mice, headsets and other peripherals to create a gaming setup with a consistent look and feel. It offers a full spectrum of colors and seven different lighting modes — all of which can be accessed via the Aura control panel.
