ASUS Announces ProArt PA27AC
Professional 27-inch WQHD frameless HDR monitor delivers excellent color accuracy, and features exclusive calibration technology and Thunderbolt 3 support
TAIPEI, Taiwan, February 9, 2018 — ASUS today announced the launch of ProArt™ PA27AC, the world’s first 27-inch HDR400 professional monitor with Thunderbolt™ 3. It features a 27-inch WQHD IPS display with a frameless design, and it delivers 100% of the sRGB color gamut, up to 400cd/m2 of brightness and HDR10 for extremely lifelike viewing experiences. ProArt PA27AC also features advanced calibration technology that includes a 14-bit lookup table for color accuracy and 5 x 5 grid uniformity testing. Pre-calibrated to ensure color accuracy (∆E 2), ProArt PA27AC is ideal for graphic designers, photographers, or anyone who appreciates exceptional color accuracy.
Superior picture quality and brighter, more lifelike colors
With 77% more pixels than conventional Full HD monitors, ProArt PA27AC offers WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution for superior picture quality and sharp imagery. It also provides extra screen space to ensure optimal viewing, with less scrolling and zooming.
Covering 100% of the sRGB color gamut, ProArt PA27AC offers 8-bit color graphics to display more than 16.7 million colors, creating richer and more lifelike results. It uses a 14-bit internal lookup table and supports Gamma values of 2.6, 2.4, 2.2, 2.0 and 1.8 to deliver natural-looking images, and smoother transitions between hues.
Each ProArt PA27AC monitor is pre-calibrated to guarantee industry-leading color accuracy (∆E 2). In addition to white scale, advanced ASUS gray-scale tracking technology ensures smoother color gradation, allowing for extremely accurate onscreen color reproduction. PA27AC also comes with 95% uniformity compensation to guard against brightness and chroma (color) fluctuations across the screen.
HDR functionality for more dynamic, realistic imagery
ProArt PA27AC features up to 400cd/m2 of brightness and HDR10 high-dynamic-range technology for brighter whites and darker blacks, resulting in an unparalleled viewing experience. HDR monitors offer a wider color spectrum than traditional monitors, with a luminance range that comes closer to what the human eye is capable of perceiving.
ASUS ProArt Calibration Technology
Whether on a desktop or laptop, PC or Mac, ASUS ProArt Calibration Technology offers color accuracy tuning and uniformity compensation to make things easy when it's time to recalibrate the display's brightness and color consistency. Users can select from a variety of advanced setups to achieve optimum color accuracy; get 3 x 3 and 5 x 5 uniformity compensation matrices to ensure consistent brightness; and save all color parameter profiles on the monitor’s internal scaler integrated circuit chip. ASUS ProArt Calibration Technology is also compatible with major hardware calibrators such as X-rite i1 Display Pro and Datacolor Spyder 5 series.
Thunderbolt 3: The USB-C that does it all
For unrivaled expandability and versatile, ultrafast connections, ProArt PA27AC offers two Thunderbolt 3 ports for data transfer speeds of up to 40Gbps, DisplayPort and USB 3.1 with Power Delivery for providing up to 45W of power to external devices.
“We are incredibly proud to launch the first Thunderbolt 3 monitor with ASUS-exclusive ProArt Calibration Technology,” said Vincent Chiou, Associate Vice President of the ASUS Display Business Division. “The PA27AC delivers beauty through elegant design while providing powerful features that are designed especially for designers and video producers.”
“The ASUS ProArt PA27AC is the first Thunderbolt 3 monitor supporting both PCs and Macs and boasting two Thunderbolt 3 ports, which enable users to daisy-chain a second display or connect to a range of USB devices or even additional Thunderbolt devices”, said Jason Ziller, General Manager of the Client Connectivity Division at Intel®. “We look forward to seeing the ASUS ProArt deliver this enhanced level of capability and compatibility with Thunderbolt 3 to users worldwide.”
