ASUS Republic of Gamers Announces Updated Strix Hero Edition

Esports gaming laptop designed for MOBA games is now powered by an 8th Generation Intel Core CPU, and features a host of upgrades

TAIPEI, Taiwan, April 3, 2018 — ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today announced that the Strix Hero Edition gaming laptop is now available with the latest 8th Generation Intel® Core™ processors and NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 10-Series graphics.
The newly updated model features a 15.6-inch display with a fast 120Hz refresh rate, wide-view technology, and a wide 94% NTSC color gamut. Strix Hero Edition is specially designed to give gamers a competitive edge in Multiplayer Online Battle Area (MOBA) games like League of Legends® and Dota® 2.

Exceptional gaming performance

Strix Hero Edition is powered by the latest 8th Generation Intel Core i7-8750H six-core processor with up to 32GB of DDR4 2666MHz dual-channel memory. The new processor can reach speeds of up to 4GHz with four cores and 3.9GHz with six cores, and execute up to 12 threads thanks to Intel Hyper-Threading Technology. In addition, Intel Speed Shift and Turbo Boost technologies enable SCAR Hero to handle every task quickly and efficiently, including simultaneous gaming, recording, and live-streaming.
Strix Hero Edition features NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti graphics with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM. The GTX 10-Series graphics architecture offers the highest possible gaming performance and supports Microsoft® DirectX® 12, enabling the newest visual effects and rendering techniques for realistic gaming visuals.

Supersmooth gameplay and true-to-life color

Strix Hero Edition features a 15.6-inch display with a fast 120Hz refresh rate and wide-view technology to give gamers smooth gameplay and a better view of the game world. Its 94% NTSC color gamut provides a wider color range that’s almost equal to 130% sRGB in terms of color space covered so gamers can differentiate enemies easily — no matter how frantic the action.

Desktop-style gaming keyboard

In keeping with its designed-for-esports philosophy, Strix Hero Edition has a desktop-style keyboard that’s optimized for gaming: it features four gaming hotkeys and customizable RGB-backlighting across four zones. The keyboard features ergonomically designed keys with 0.25mm-curvature key caps, and 1.8mm travel distance for responsive keystrokes. The keyboard also features a highlighted WASD key group, N-key rollover technology, and a 20-million- key-press lifespan.

Advanced cooling features

Strix Hero Edition has a patented trapezoid-cut lid design that doesn’t interfere with its rear exhaust vents, and features high-performance 12-volt fans that boost airflow and increase air pressure to improve cooling efficiency.
The patented Anti-Dust Cooling (ADC) system enables Strix Hero Edition to expel harmful dust particles and dirt to improve system stability and durability. This prevents buildup on the heatsink fins — dust accumulation on the heatsink often result in compromised cooling performance.

Light it up with Aura Sync

Aura Sync technology lets gamers customize and sync light effects with Aura Sync-supported gaming mice, headsets and other peripherals to create a gaming setup with a consistent look and feel. It offers a full spectrum of colors and seven different lighting modes — all of which can be accessed via the Aura control panel.
