The foundation of the design of the ASUS Monogram is a Mandarin
symbol of “人” which means “people”. ASUS believes in a
people-oriented corporate culture that inspires, motivates, and
nurtures employees. Cultivating a happy and safe workplace is highly
relevant to the sustainability of a corporation. Happy employees are
more likely to enjoy their work and deliver better results.
ASUS has been named one of the World’s Best Employers for four
consecutive years by Forbes and is selected as one of the World’s
Best Companies by TIME magazine in 2023. ASUS creates a happier,
healthier workplace through facilitating communication, caring for
employees’ mental health, ensuring workplace safety, promoting
equality, and through employee training.
Facilitating Open Dialogue
ASUS understands the importance of communication and mutual
understanding, so we are continuously designing and implementing new
channels of communication. For example, CEO-on-live is an internal
communication event held regularly. Employees are invited to submit
questions related to the company’s development or make comments to
the Co-CEOs of ASUS. A livestream is then arranged for the Co-CEOs
to directly answer employee inquiries. Less public communication
methods for private or political matters are also enabled through
suggestions emails and employee satisfaction surveys.
In addition, the ASUS Labor Union was founded in July, 2023, marking
a new milestone of open dialogue between ASUS and its employees.
Monthly meetings are held between ASUS and the union to align on
employee expectations and feasible improvements.
Promoting a Safe Work Environment
ASUS continuously works to discover and implement measures to
promote a safer work environment, addressing employees’ mental
health, physical health, and environmental safety.
To further ensure employees’ wellbeing, an Employee Assistance
Program (EAP) service hotline that includes 6 free sessions with a
therapist is available to ASUS employees. Plus, annual health
checkups are provided to employees in addition to a multifunctional
court, two gyms, a swimming pool, multiple yoga classrooms, and dry
saunas at ASUS Headquarters to ensure employees get the exercise and
decompression they need.
Harassment or unlawful harm situations are addressed in a timely,
serious manner. ASUS has promised to promote gender equality and
protect all employees from harm in the workplace. To support this
promise, a guideline for reporting and punishment of unlawful
workplace harm and harassment has been established.
To enhance occupational safety, an Occupational Safety and Health
Committee was established. Regular checks on operation environments,
safety and health training, health checks, and other factors to
determine whether the company complies to related laws and
regulations are conducted by the committee. Mandatory CPR, disaster
handling, and disease-prevention courses are also provided to all
ASUS employees.
Protecting Human Rights
ASUS strives to ensure a safe, just, and respectful workplace for
its employees, suppliers, and partners. An ASUS Human Rights Policy
has been established based on international standards set by groups
such as the
Responsible Business Alliance (RBA),
United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), and
International Labor Organization (ILO).
Supporting Equality
As a global enterprise, ASUS has partners across numerous countries.
We believe in supporting a diverse, equal workplace — free of
discrimination based on nationality, race, gender, marital status,
age, appearance, religion, or political views. We also believe that
diversity at work is a positive and that it creates value.
Resources are provided to female employees to ensure that their
rights are well taken care of. Private nursery rooms are available
and emergency phone lines are installed in each breastfeeding room
at ASUS Headquarters. Options to apply for free pregnancy risk
evaluations, health education, doctor appointments, parking,
pregnancy chairs and pregnancy giftboxes are available to pregnant
employees if they choose to use these resources, so they can enjoy a
more comfortable experience at work while expecting. A paid
maternity leave of 8 weeks is provided to new mothers along with 7
days of family care leaves per year.
Talent Development and Training
Acquiring talent and facilitating knowledge development to help
employees do their work based on the company’s values and strategies
is crucial. ASUS has structured employee training courses, both
online and physically, in categories of Core, Managerial, and
Expertise training.
Design Thinking is also an important value and design method
embedded in ASUS’s innovative culture. To cultivate the Design
Thinking spirit, deploy Design Thinking in departments and
ultimately throughout the company, ASUS has established a Design
Thinking Coach & High Potential Program. In 2023, 57 trainees of
which 39% were in managerial positions joined the program and 27 of
them ultimately received the program’s certification. 2 High
Potential talents and 2 managers among them were chosen and sent to
Stanford D. School for further training.
Fostering Employee Satisfaction
Higher employee satisfaction contributes to lower turnover rate, so
ASUS is dedicated to fostering employee satisfaction through
multiple mechanisms. Employee Stock Ownership Trust is available to
full-time employees at ASUS Headquarters who have worked for the
company for over one year, and it promotes mutual growth between
employees and the company.
To emphasize team spirit, each year ASUS hosts a Family Day and
provides budget for team-building events. Employees can enjoy fun
activities such as enjoying rides in theme parks, a marathon and
more on ASUS Family Day, and each team is free to decide what they
would like to do with their Team Building budget.
After the pandemic, work-from-home options have become available.
Full-time employees at ASUS HQ are free to choose 24 days throughout
the year to WFH, and overseas branches also have hybrid work
policies. This allows employees to have more flexibility when it
comes to managing their work-life balance.
Committed to Improvement
ASUS had 16,332 full-time employees at the end of 2023 and each
employee received 17.8 hours of training on average. Mechanisms for
cultivating workplace happiness are constantly changing and evolving
based on various factors, including employee feedback. The process
of promoting a happy workplace is a continuous effort that ASUS is
devoted to. Click the link below to read more about how ASUS is
