Until recently, content creators had to make compromises when doing creative work on the go. But thanks to some nifty new laptop features, that’s no longer the case.

ASUS creator laptops are crafted to empower you to do your best work efficiently and comfortably―wherever you are. They pack everything you may need into one single device. Among all the specialized features for creative professionals that differentiate these laptops, one toolset stands out: ASUS Dial and DialPad.

What are ASUS Dial and DialPad?

ASUS Dial and DialPad were created to help you work efficiently and smoothly with popular creative software like the Adobe Creative Cloud®―even while on the go.

The Dial is a physical rotary device placed on the left-hand side of the touchpad, available in all ProArt Studiobook laptops and Zenbook Pro 16X OLED. DialPad is a virtual equivalent, conveniently embedded in the touchpad, available in Vivobook Pro laptops.

The Dial and DialPad are compatible with most popular creative software, including Adobe Photoshop®, Premiere Pro®, Photoshop Lightroom Classic®, After Effects®, and Illustrator®, and can connect up to 15 functions in each app. Other apps, like Microsoft 365 suite, entertainment software, and Internet browsers, also allow you to replace keyboards shortcuts and hotkeys with convenient rotary input.

Via ASUS ProArt Creator Hub software, you can fully customize the Dial to work exactly how you want it to. see how ProArt Creator Hub can help you streamline creative workflows.

To start using the Dial, simply click it. This will enable the Dial overlay on your screen. Turn the Dial to select the option you like, and press again to control the function.

To start using the DialPad, move your finger to the icon on the top-right of your touchpad, and slide the finger diagonally toward the middle of the touchpad. An illuminated circle will appear on the left side of your touchpad—that’s your DialPad.

By manipulating the Dial, you can adjust parameters like brush size and opacity, zoom in or out, and move the timeline or adjust volume. You can also use Dial to adjust laptop audio volume or screen brightness, or to switch between apps. These are just some functions you can use, and the full list of what you can do with the Dial is extensive.

Why Do I Need a Laptop With ASUS Dial?

The ASUS Dial allows creators to streamline their creative workflows and manipulate creative software settings easily―without additional peripherals. That means uncompromised desktop-like work, even when on the go. It also means that you can work efficiently with less desk space.

The Dial replaces keyboard shortcuts and hotkeys, and provide much more intuitive input than the keyboard. You can also manipulate settings more precisely than with your keyboard or mouse.

The placement of the Dial is strategic, allowing you to make adjustments easily with your thumb. Or, if you prefer, you can use the index finger of your left hand.

The Dial is not intrusive when using the keyboard and touchpad. It lies level with the keyboard surface to prevent accidental clicks or discomfort.

ASUS Dial also allows creatives to work fluidly, without taking your eyes off the screen.

The functions of the Dial can be customized to perfectly fit your habits and workflows. With ProArt Creator Hub, you can add and delete functions and groups of functions for each app, or you can enable a single-function mode when focused on a particular task.

ASUS Dial is compatible with a wide range of software that creatives typically use. Even for apps that aren’t listed as compatible, you can often still use it to adjust settings.

How to Customize the ASUS Dial?

It’s easy to access the customization options. Simply long-press the Dial or keep your finger in the middle of the DialPad for a couple of seconds, and the ProArt Creator Hub window will appear. Then, head to the “Customize” tab, and adjust the settings of the Dial.
