A New Generation of AI-Powered CPUs in ASUS Laptops are Here!

ASUS has a track record of being at the vanguard of laptop innovation. During IFA 2024, we are proving once again that innovation is one of the core values at ASUS. We proudly present the next-gen CPU laptops, designed for smooth, next-level AI experiences and maximum power efficiency. See what improvements and new experiences the new chipsets will offer, and what laptops will feature this brand-new technology.

The new generation of Intel® laptop CPUs is codenamed Lunar Lake. Arriving in Q3 2024, these CPUs will be the first to feature an embedded Memory on Package (MoP) design, offering seamless performance and efficient, quick communication between the CPU and RAM. Lunar Lake CPUs outperform the previous-generation CPUs in the Geekbench test by up to 1.4 times. In addition, the system cache has been increased to 8 MB. The chips are built in the 4P + 4E core setup (with four Performance and four Efficiency cores) and feature an improved E-Core cluster.

The CPUs are built for next-level AI experiences. The new NPU (neural processing unit) design offers up to 47 TOPs — a 4.3-times improvement over the previous-generation Intel CPUs. That makes for impressive boosts in AI processing, as well as energy saving while handling AI tasks. Users can count on twice the efficiency thanks to the MAC array, have six neural compute engines at hand (three times the amount in the previous generation), twice the memory bandwidth, and a 2.9-times efficiency boost when running Stable Diffusion v1.5.

This innovative design not only boosts the processing speed but also brings about better energy efficiency — as much as 40% more power saving during data-movement processes. Another factor that comes into play when it comes to power efficiency is the new power-delivery architecture. The new power-management architecture circuit design is reminiscent of that found in the newest smartphones and is designed to precisely adjust SoC voltage to reduce power consumption under low loads — much like it does in smartphones.

The Lunar Lake CPUs come with new and improved Intel Arc™ embedded graphics that offer no-compromise, power-efficient graphics processing performance, capable even of ray tracing. The new design offers a vast power boost — a 200% boost in 3D Mark Time Spy test performance, double the ray-tracing performance, 30% gaming FPS performance boost with XeSS AI-based super-sampling. And all that with twice the power efficiency the previous generation offered.

The new-generation Snapdragon® X Plus Platform from Qualcomm® is built with three things in mind: a game-changing combination of performance and power efficiency, enabling the next generation of AI PCs, and smarter user experiences. The 10-core CPU offers 42 MB of total cache and up to 3.4 GHz multithreaded frequency. The CPU features a powerful NPU, capable of delivering up to 45 TOPS for seamless AI experiences. The chips come with an embedded Qualcomm Adreno™ GPU as well that delivers impressive graphics-processing performance. Laptops powered by these CPUs offer multiple user experience-enhancing features, including support for 5G and WiFi 7; the Snapdragon Sound™ technology suite for immersive, high-fidelity sound; and laptop protection with the Qualcomm Secure Processing Unit that runs the Microsoft Pluton TPM.

These latest CPUs power new Microsoft Copilot features. The Copilot app will change its nature, shifting from the current format to a Progressive Web Application format, and will be easily accessible from the taskbar. The laptops will also feature a dedicated Copilot key, enabling you to launch the personal assistant with a single key click.

The new functions will include Live Captions, offering live subtitles during calls. Another useful function during calls will be the Windows Studio Effects — Windows-native camera filters that can help improve lighting or blur the background during video calls. The Cocreator function — the generative AI part of Copilot — is constantly improving, boosting users' creativity.
