ASUS ExpertBook Extreme toughness for business
ASUS ExpertBook laptops are created from the ground up to provide the quality and resilience demanded by professionals and enterprise. Durability is our watchword in creating devices that exceed expectations in any environment. We subjected ExpertBook laptops to a barrage of grueling tests designed to push them to their physical limits, including drop, twist, hinge, keyboard and panel-resistance. We do all of this to prove that your ExpertBook is built to last and ready for any task — so you can concentrate on getting the job done, no matter the conditions.
US Standard Military Grade
To create the perfect business laptops, ExpertBook combines sophisticated design with comprehensive military-grade1 robustness and manufacturing quality. The reinforced construction offers the reassurance of a rugged solution that is primed for a wide range of needs and environments. These nine specific tests1 verify reliable operation in harsh environmental conditions — including extremes of altitude, temperature and humidity — along with physical vibration and shock tests designed to mimic rough day-to-day handling.
High Temparature TestEndure 32-49°C for three full days, with the power on
Low Temparature TestEndure -21°~ ‒ 32°C for three full days, with the power on
Temperature Shock TestSurvive temperature extremes of between -51°-71°C, with one-minute transitions
Humidiy TestEndure 30°C and 60°C temperatures for 10 days, at 95% relative humidity
Altitude TestSurvive at up to 15,000 feet, and between 5°-40°C, to simulate pressure and temperate resilience
Sand and Dust TestSurvive operating temperature of between 25±2-60±2°C and dust density of up to 10±7 g/m3 for a 12-hour period
Vibration TestWithstand 10-500Hz physical vibration in all directions, for one hour
Drop TestSurvive 26 times drops from 122 cm, with package bundle
Shock TestEndure a total of 18 axis and direction gravitational shocks
Built to Endure, Anywhere
Extremes of temperature, altitude and humidity can be bad news for a laptop, so every ExpertBook goes through a series of tough climatic tests to make sure they can survive in harsh environments, whether they're turned on or off. We bake them in desert-like heat, freeze them down to super-chilly temperatures, subject them to steamy humidity and check if they can survive at dizzying altitude – so they’re fit to work wherever you might travel.
ExpertBook is Torture-Tested to Perfection
ASUS ensures that every component of your ExpertBook laptop delivers long and reliable service, no matter how tough the going gets. We pound the keyboard with up to 10-million keystrokes, torture the hinges with up to 20,000 open-and-close cycles, subject the chassis to 50,000 twisting tests to mimic those one-handed dashes to the meeting room, and ensure the touchscreen has a precise and consistent response2. We also connect and disconnect the I/O ports 5,000 times for endurance, and check that performance isn’t affected by cable quality. Finally, we pressure-test the display using up to 30 kg of force on the lid and the underside of the chassis. Only if it survives all these is a laptop deemed worthy of the ASUS badge.
Keyboard Durability TestTo ensure the ultimate keyboard durability, specially designed ASUS robots test individual keys with millions of keystrokes
Abrasion TestThe chassis is rubbed repeatedly to ensure that it’s durable enough to brush off everyday scrapes and knocks
Ball Drop TestA ball is dropped repeatedly onto the touch panel to ensure it can endure unexpected bumps or pressure
Hinge TestThe laptop’s display is subjected to 20,000 open-and-close cycles
Twist TestTwist tests confirm that the chassis is strong enough to retain structural integrity
Port Durability TestPort tests ensure that contacts and plugs are durable even in environments where devices are frequently connected and disconnected
Free-Fall TestThe laptop must survive a single-direction drop from 120 cm, with the power on
Transportation TestThe laptop and packaging must withstand the rigors of transport and delivery, including acceleration and bump tests
Salt Fog TestThe laptop is exposed to 5% saline for 72 hours to ensure its chassis is incorrigible in smoggy environments
Noise and Audio Tests
With ExpertBook, our testing goes further than reliability and durability. The ASUS Golden Ear team designs and fine-tunes all ExpertBook audio systems for the best possible sound and communications experiences. In our ISO-7779-compliant acoustics facility, ASUS engineers perform extensive testing and tuning to minimize the noise from fans and other components. We also employ a tailored mix of superior hardware and smart-amplifier technology to deliver louder sound with minimal distortion. We then test the real-world effectiveness of Windows Cortana, subjecting ExpertBook to a comprehensive microphone test to ensure that the voice assistant receives commands clearly — even in noisy environments.
Electric Performance Test
Every ExpertBook undergoes extensive electromagnetic-interference (EMI) tests to make sure they don’t interfere with other electronic devices, and are resistant to interference from external electromagnetic fields.
- The testing regime includes the requirements of both military-grade standards and ASUS quality tests, and varies depending on device. MIL-STD-810 testing is conducted on selected ASUS products only. Note that the MIL-STD-810 testing helps to ensure the quality of ASUS products but does not indicate a particular fitness for military use. The test is performed under laboratory conditions. Any damage caused by attempts to replicate these test conditions would be considered accidental, and would not be covered by the standard ASUS warranty. Additional coverage is available with ASUS Premium Care.
