Major telecommunications group, Etisalat, chooses ASUS Control Center to enhance remote management of their IT systems
COVID-19 has changed the way that companies view telecommuting, and it appears that this change may cause some companies to re-think the way that they do business over the long-term. The recent shift that has seen many more employees working remotely has presented significant challenges to IT management and supports teams, who have had to quickly adapt to managing equipment from a distance.
Etisalat is a leading mobile network operator based in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Established more than four decades ago, it was the first telecommunications service provider in the UAE. Today, the company provides innovative solutions and services to 148 million subscribers in 16 countries throughout the Middle East, Asia and Africa.
Since March 2020, Etisalat has adopted a policy of remote work for many of its employees. A remote workforce presents many challenges for IT management and support teams. One significant challenge is that IT support personnel must be able to maintain device security and updates for a large number of employees while themselves working from a remote location.
To help successfully manage this significant shift in the way they do business, Etisalat invested in the ASUS Mini PC solution – PB60V and PB60, with its ASUS Control Center software.
ASUS Control Center (ACC) software is an IT management solution that allows for remote monitoring and control of ASUS servers, workstations, and other commercial products such as laptops, desktops, All-in-One PCs, thin clients, and digital signage.
For Etisalat, ACC also helps deal with another unique challenge, as the company faces routine, central power cut-offs in their home office building. To prevent potential data issues that a sudden power interruption may cause, Etisalat uses the Task Scheduler function of the ACC software, which allows the IT team to turn devices on and off, run routine tasks such as software updates, or even control USB usage.
Along with offering remote management and monitoring of a wide range of ASUS devices, ACC also supports firmware (BIOS) updates and provides safe connections for data security. In addition, ACC provides real-time power consumption data and allows users to manage power consumption settings, so that energy use can be monitored and managed remotely. ACC is an indispensable tool for IT professionals in this new era where more employees than ever before are working remotely.
