ASUS ZenFone 5 Receives Android 9 Pie Update

Markham, Canada, January 4, 2019 - ZenFone 5 (ZE 620KL) the first ASUS smartphone to receive the update to Android™ 9 Pie. A notification should automatically appear on the user’s status bar.

With the update, users will gain access new features like Google Lens, more accessible on-screen volume controls, and easier management of notifications.

For now, the update is available only for ZenFone 5 (ZE 620KL).

ASUS will release in the near future the updates for ZenFone 5Z (ZS 620KL) and ZenFone 5 Q (ZC 600KL).

To download the update manually to ZenFone 5, users can access it via the ASUS website at https://www.asus.com/Phone/ZenFone-5-ZE620KL/HelpDesk_BIOS/

Instructions

Once the update notification is received, just tap it to download the update.
Once the download is complete, a pop-up reminder to install the update will appear. Tap Install to continue.
The device will reboot twice during the installation of the update. Please do not turn off the device until the home screen appears.

Notice:

It may take about one week for the system to complete the auto push, so if the update prompt is not received, then please go to [Settings] [System] [System Updates] to update manually.

To verify the model and firmware supported, please go to [Settings] [System] [About] and verify the software information, shown at the bottom of the screen.
The letters WW, CN, TW, BZ are important, because you need to apply the same variant (SKU) update, Example: WW→WW, CN→CN, TW→TW.
ATTENTION - Using the wrong variant (SKU) may cause update failure, please update using the correct version only.
