ASUS Desktop PCs and LCD monitors service in primary schools across Thailand

    Overview

    OBEC (Office of The Basic Education Commission) is a Thailand government office that manages Thailand education equipment purchasing including computers and monitors. In 2012, The OBEC project is the largest annual government project with a total quantity of 40K desktops.


    The opportunity

    While smooth performance for internet connection and other educational software is required, durability and quality are the key demand for school computers, especially in primary schools where young children take turn using them around the clock.

    According to the new rules of OBEC for ICT equipment, all desktops used in schools must include four main components: desktop PC, monitor, mouse and keyboard, from the same manufacturer brand. This has opened new opportunities for ASUS to win the bid with a total solution.

    The Outcome

    ASUS eventually won an amount of 5K pieces in OBEC bidding with desktop PC BM6330 and LCD monitor VS208T bundle. ASUS products where delivered to rural schools in Khon Kaen’s fourth educational district including Anuban Khao Suan Kwang School and Ban Kood Nam Sai School, starting in the first semester of 2013 in May, receiving positive feedbacks.

    “ASUS is a trustworthy brand of quality and durable computers” said Ms. Wilawan Seeyod, the Special Technical Teacher/ Lab Caretaker of Ban Kood Nam Sai School. ASUS BM6330 desktops and VS208T monitors are exclusively used for internet research because they are “fast, powerful and stable”, according to Ms. Wilawan Seeyod. Since there are very few computers with internet in the community, alumni and local residents also come to use these new ASUS desktops for their research.
