ASUS Announces TUF Gaming Capture Box-FHD120

TAIPEI, Taiwan, January 6, 2022 ASUS today announced the TUF Gaming Capture Box-FHD120, made to deliver pro-grade streaming for console and PC gamers. Whether users are streaming from a PC or console, the new FHD120 is ready to help them share their gameplay with like-minded players, a few friends or hundreds of adoring fans.

Like the TUF Capture Box CU4K30, the FHD120 is a compact, easy-to-use device designed with the spirit of TUFness in mind. Users can hide it behind a desk without a second thought, or they can display it in all its glory with an ARGB logo to add a bit of flair. It is also small enough to fit in a bag for streaming on-the-go. The TUF Gaming Capture Box-FHD120 can be used with PCs, consoles or even DSLR cameras, and it is certified for use with Open Broadcaster Studio (OBS™), though it can be used with any other preferred video capture software as well.

However, unlike the CU4K30, the new TUF Gaming Capture Box-FHD120 is designed to capture 1080p video at an ultra-smooth 120 frames per second, allowing users to deliver footage at higher framerates for discerning audiences. With a built-in hardware scaler, the FHD120 will even handle downscaling and upscaling (up to 1080p), making manual image adjustment in software unnecessary. Users can simply select a desired resolution in OBS, and the TUF Capture Box will do the rest. HDMI passthrough allows 4K at 60 Hz or 1080p at 120 Hz, so users can decide whether they want high resolution or high framerates on their own display.

The TUF Capture Box-FHD120 provides two HDMI 2.0 ports, one for input and one for output, as well as a USB Type-C® port. Like the CU4K30, the FHD120 is USB Video Class (UVC) capable, so users can plug it directly into a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port and start transferring raw, uncompressed video for the utmost streaming quality — no extra drivers or utilities required. Two 3.5 mm jacks on the front allow users to connect their headset and game controller, respectively. This particularly handy feature allows users to add commentary to their gameplay directly through the capture box, record the rest of their party’s chat, and pass audio through to a game controller.

The new ASUS Video Capture Console software also lets users configure the FHD120 to their own specifications. They can adjust the volume of the input and headset audio, disable HDCP detection, and control the ARGB lighting. And this lighting is not just cosmetic; the Video Capture Console software can use the FHD120’s lighting to alert users of HDCP or EDID warnings and which cables are currently plugged in and detected. If a headset is not plugged in all the way, or a USB connection is operating at 2.0 speeds, the status light will let users know.
