ASUS Announces VivoBook 14 (X442) and VivoBook 15 (X542)

Laptops designed for everyday productivity and entertainment powered by the latest Intel Core processors, with NVIDIA GeForce graphics and stylish colors

TAIPEI, Taiwan, June 20, 2017 —ASUS today announced VivoBook 14 (X442) and VivoBook 15 (X542). These new additions to the VivoBook Series laptops are designed for entertainment and daily productivity, and are powered by up to 7th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processors, up to 16GB RAM, NVIDIA® GeForce® 940MX graphics and dual storage featuring up to a 1TB HDD with a 256GB SSD. They are equipped with up to a Full HD 1920 x 1080 display, featuring ASUS Splendid and ASUS Eye Care technologies. Both models offer comprehensive connectivity, along with ASUS SuperBattery technology that charges a flat battery to 60% in just 49 minutes. These laptops come in an exciting choice of finishes: Star Grey, Rouge, Pearl White and Icicle Gold.

Supreme performance and hybrid storage

ASUS VivoBook 14 (X442) and VivoBook 15 (X542) are powered by up to 7th Generation Intel Core i7 processors with up to 16GB DDR4 RAM, and feature NVIDIA GeForce 940MX graphics to deliver the performance required for daily tasks, casual gaming and multimedia entertainment. VivoBook 15 (X542) features dual-storage with up to a 1TB HDD and a 256GB SSD, providing users with a large storage capacity for media libraries, along with superfast data performance for quick boot-up and loading of apps. VivoBook 14 (X442) can be specified with a 2TB HDD or a 512GB SSD.

ASUS SuperBattery technology protects and prolongs the battery’s lifespan. A fast-charge function charges an almost-empty battery to 60% in just 49 minutes, and SuperBattery also gives the battery in VivoBook a 3X-longer lifespan when compared to traditional laptop batteries. The reversible USB Type-C™ (USB-C™) port makes it easier to connect devices, with USB 3.1 Gen 1 providing superfast data-transfer speeds. For maximum convenience and compatibility, ASUS VivoBook 14 and 15 feature comprehensive connectivity including two USB 3.1 Type-A ports, a USB 2.0 port, an HDMI port, a card reader and an optical disc drive.

Lifelike Full HD visuals

ASUS VivoBook Series laptops feature up to a Full HD (1920 x 1080) display for astonishing visuals. They also feature several ASUS technologies designed to enhance the visual experience: ASUS Splendid ensures vivid, accurate colors for any kind of visual content; and ASUS Eye Care technology reduces potentially harmful blue-light emissions by 30 percent. ASUS Tru2Life Video enhances contrast by up to 150 percent for sharper, clearer and more realistic-looking videos.

ASUS Battery Health Charging technology

ASUS Battery Health Charging technology allows users to set the state of charge to 60%, 80% or 100%, prolonging battery lifespan and reducing the chance of battery swelling. Leaving a laptop plugged in when the battery is already fully charged may degrade the battery, resulting in a shorter lifespan. It may also lead to battery swelling due to internal gas buildup caused by oxidation, potentially warping or damaging the laptop.
