ROG G20 was the winner of a Best Choice Golden Award and went on to win the exclusive Best Choice of the Year Award, the top prize at Computex awarded to only one product.
G20 has a sophisticated, highly integrated case and comes with customizable lighting effects showcasing up to 8 million colors to match your mood!
A one-stop gaming and entertainment system, the ROG G20 is set to dominate the field of small-form-factor gaming desktops. Its 12.5-liter case packs a punch, housing a 4th-generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor and a NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX780 graphics card to give you the power for HD gaming and multimedia entertainment.
Our engineers sought to design the G20 with no visible exterior exhaust vents. The G20 has a thermal design that takes advantage of natural convection, with a hidden airflow channel that ensures efficient heat management for marathon gaming sessions. On top of that, it runs silently at just 25dB at idle.
The G20 isn’t just powerful, it’s energy-efficient as well. In Eco Energy Mode, its ultra-low power design requires as little as 20W at idle or while downloading.
G20 also features the ASUS-exclusive Aegis application for monitoring system performance through a gamer-friendly user interface.
Both GR8 and G20 are small form factor gaming PCs – both are full Windows 8.1 machines that will do any task a normal PC can: email, office, entertainment, internets, gaming: everything!
We call the ultra-portable GR8 a ‘Console PC’ because it brings PC gaming anywhere. At just 2.5 liters in size it can fit neatly besides your HDTV, slides discreetly into a small dorm room or it can be thrown in a bag and taken to friend’s houses or to a LAN with ease. Its front IO gives it ease of use to be plugged/unplugged frequently, while its Miracast support is great for throwing movies from phones and tablets to bigger monitors or TVs.
Fundamentally the G20 is a bit larger at 12.5 liters – yet still considerably smaller than most 20+ liter mini-ITX cases – and features a more powerful with a quad-core Core i7 CPU and up to GTX 780, so if you need max power in min size; the G20 is the one to buy. It’s still much easier to move or fit in smaller spaces than a full desktop, and it looks just as cool on your desk.
Here is the specification ROG has announced at Computex. More precise information will be available at launch.
We aim to have the GR8 on shelf in Q3, with other models following later. More details will be shared at the time of retail launch.
The design is completely customized to create a highly integrated layout that maximizes power and cooling potential within its super slim space.
The 2.5” SATA III HDD/SSD extension bay and SO-DIMM DDR3 memory slots are upgradable via the specially designed door, but due to its highly integrated design to maximize power and cooling in such a small space, other components are fixed inside.
The GR8 is just the first ‘Console PC’ we have publicly announced. We plan more in the future and we are certainly considering other combinations, including AMD options.
The GR8 will be competitive with other SFF gaming desktop PCs on the market, however the retail price depends on the exact specification available in each country as options like HDD/SSD/memory which can vary. More details will be available nearer the launch.
The GR8 is pre-installed with Windows 8.1 and is fully compatible with SteamOS should users wish to install it.
Yes! When Valve launches its Steam Machine software, ROG will offer a version with SteamOS pre-installed and the Steam controller bundled.
Here is the specification ROG has announced at Computex, but it does not represent all possible specifications the G20 will be available in.
We aim to have a variety of G20 spec options on shelf in Q3, depending on the region and retail store. More details will be shared at the time of retail launch.
The design is completely customized to create an extremely compact internal-to-external layout that maximizes power and cooling potential within its slim space.
This was an intentional decision as a result of our extensive testing. Only the high-spec G20 models require two power adapters as the very high power demands of a high-end GPU are accommodated separately to the core system. An ROG branded bracket holds the two adapters together conveniently.
External power adapters are an advantage because:
In order to produce the most powerful, yet smallest possible, quietest and energy efficient system, the internal structure and motherboard had to be entirely customized for the G20, therefore it uses a non-standard motherboard.
In order to maximize its potential it has an extremely integrated design, therefore it’s not possible for users to upgrade the G20.
